Course Description

Psychological impacts of male sexual problems affect a significant portion of the treatment seeking population in psychology offices. Identifying sexual health issues often falls on psychologists, along with the decision to determine whether the issue can be treated in the office, or needs a referral to another health care provider.  

Erectile Disorder, Premature Ejaculation, Delayed Ejaculation and Male Hypoactive Sexual Disorder will be highlighted. Special Populations such as teenagers and older men, as well as psychosexual outcomes of circumcision will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the differences in major sources of nosology for male sexual problems
  • Assess whether the clinician is being presented with a dysfunction, disorder, discomfort or distress about a sexual problem
  • Assess and diagnose several male sexual disorders and their psychological outcomes
  • Discuss the role of psychotherapy and psychoeducation in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction
  • Assess vulnerabilities of special populations such as teen males and older males.
